The ThingWorx platform was designed from the ground up for the Internet of Things. It enables rapid creation of end-to-end smart applications for a wide range of markets including: Smart Agriculture, Smart Cities, Smart Grid, Smart Water, Smart Buildings, and Telematics. The company was acquired by PTC, a US-based computer software company specialising in 2D & 3D design software, product lifecycle management, and service management solutions, in January 2014.
The platform currently integrates with Amazon AWS IoT, and is soon to support Microsoft Azure IoT also. PTC will pursue additional IoT device cloud integrations for ThingWorx, which will allow customers to realise the collective range of services provided by these companies, including the availability of connected device data.
